What <a href=\"http:\/\/www.familytidings.com\/blog\/?p=321\">used to be <code>gnome-session-save<\/code><\/a> is now <code>gnome-session-quit<\/code>.  <a href=\"http:\/\/linuxg.net\/\">LinuxG.net<\/a> has a <a href=\"http:\/\/linuxg.net\/shutdown-reboot-logout-ubuntu-13-04-system-with-the-gnome-session-quit-command\/\">summary of the commands<\/a>.  To attach these to a hot key, run System Settings, select Keyboard, and go to the Shortcuts tab.  The log out and lock screen hot keys are under System.  I set Lock Screen to Ctrl-Alt-L and Log Out to Ctrl-Alt-U.
