Install synaptic:
\nsudo apt install synaptic<\/code><\/p>\n

install pCloud from pcloud.com
\nAdd synced directory pCloudDrive\/sync -> ~\/pcloud-sync<\/p>\n

Download the KeePassX 0.4 .DEB from https:\/\/launchpad.net\/ubuntu\/xenial\/amd64\/keepassx\/0.4.3+dfsg-0.1ubuntu1<\/a>
\nsudo dpkg -i keepassx_0.4.3+dfsg-0.1ubuntu1_amd64.deb<\/code>
\nsudo apt --fix-broken install<\/code>
\nTo prevent it from being upgraded to version 2, in Synaptic, select keepassx and, from the menu, select \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Package\u00e2\u20ac\u009d -> \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Lock Version\u00e2\u20ac\u009d. Also make sure Software Updater isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t set to automatically install updates, as it does not respect the version lock.<\/p>\n

Sign in to Firefox. If the menu is missing, hit F10 and select View -> Toolbars -> Menu Bar and Bookmarks Toolbar.<\/p>\n

Use Synaptic to load these packages:
\nvim-gnome
\ngkrellm
\nkvpm (replaces system-config-lvm, which is not available for Ubuntu 18)
\ncifs-utils
\ngnucash
\ngimp
\ndarktable
\ngnome-raw-thumbnailer (to view .CR2 file thumbnails, also view in Files with zoom of 150%)
\ngit<\/p>\n

Copy the \/etc\/group entry for ds411p2 from another machine that already has it.<\/p>\n

Add an entry for the NAS to \/etc\/hosts<\/code>, of the form:
\n192.168.123.123 ds411p2<\/code><\/p>\n

Install NAS credentials
\nFrom another NAS-connected machine, copy the NAS authorization file:
\n\/etc\/ds411p2pwd<\/code>. Set permissions to u=rw,go=. Repeat for ~\/.ds411p2pwd<\/code>.<\/p>\n

Set up NAS mounts
\nAs root, edit \/etc\/fstab<\/code> and add these lines, substituting your username for {me}:<\/p>\n

Note the option vers=1.0<\/code> is newly required for Ubuntu 18.04 and the DS411+II NAS.
\nAs root, create the above directories in \/mnt. You can (as root) mount them now.<\/p>\n

Add support for the fingerprint reader:
\nsudo apt install libpam-fprintd<\/code>
\nRegister your fingerprint (run as user, not root):
\nfprintd-enroll<\/code>
\nSet sudo to use fingerprint scanner:
\nsudo pam-auth-update<\/code><\/p>\n
