T60 Volume under openSUSE

Run KControl (Menu->Favorites->Configure Desktop (personal settings))
Select System Administration/IBM ThinkPad laptop
Says /dev/nvram not readable. To fix, edit /etc/udev/rules.d/50-udev-default.rules
and change
KERNEL=="nvram", GROUP="kmem", MODE="600"
to
KERNEL=="nvram", GROUP="kmem", MODE="644"

Either reboot or as root chmod 666 /dev/nvram.
Restart KControl.
